US Taekwondo Institute athlete Sidney Bennie has been officially selected by the Trinidad & Tobago Taekwondo Association to represent the country at the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games Qualifying Tournament.

The event is scheduled to take place April 9 through 10, 2026, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Sidney will compete in the featherweight division (-63 kg) as part of Trinidad & Tobago’s national team.

This marks Sidney's second time being selected to represent Trinidad & Tobago at this qualifying event, reflecting his continued consistency and performance at a high level of competition.

The Central American and Caribbean Games Qualifier brings together top athletes from across the region, with the top six finishers in each division earning qualification to advance to the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Sidney will be joined at the event by fellow US Taekwondo Institute athlete Katelyn Cruz, who will represent Puerto Rico. US Taekwondo Institute congratulates Sidney on his selection and wishes both Sidney and Katelyn success as they prepare to compete.

With athletes representing two different countries, the Institute will once again be present on the international stage.
